Rosmaninho Grand Selection

The Excellence of Rosmaninho Olive Oil Olive oils produced in the geographical area delimited with soils and climate with particular characteristics, and from olives of specific varieties of olive trees, are awarded the Denomination of Protected Origin (DOP). Trás-os-Montes and Alto-Douro (region in northern Portugal) is a region of strong contrasts; the inhospitable mountain with its fertile valleys, having abrupt changes in flora and altitude. The municipalities of Valpaços and Mirandela (towns in the northern region of Portugal) are no exception, and in these regions we also find olive trees planted on pavements, to have land in the more vertiginous slopes. But the land that spreads in the picturesque valleys of the Torto and Rabaçal rivers is very fertile, since there are also orchards and vineyards in these places. It is in this monumental and fertile landscape that Rosmaninho olive oil, produced by the Agricultural Cooperative of Valpaços, was born. By taking advantage of the telluric knowledge transmitted from generation to generation and present in the news, of the generosity of the land, of the unique characteristics of the microclimate of the region and of the enterprising temper of the transmontano people (designation of the people of the northern region of Portugal ), the Cooperative of Olive Growers of Valpaços has been responsible, since 1951, when it was founded, for the marketing and production of one of the best quality olive oils in the country and in the world. The Rosmaninho label is used to identify an extra virgin olive oil, with very low acidity, fruity taste and delicate aroma, which despite the strong competition in the olive market, deserves the preference of consumers. The acceptance that this product of excellence has obtained from the Portuguese has motivated the renovation of the image of Rosmaninho olive oil, which today is marketed in more elegant bottles and with labels of clean design. With 2,100 associates from the municipalities of Valpaços and also Mirandela, the Cooperative produces an average of one million and eight hundred thousand liters of extra virgin olive oil every year, obtained from eleven million kilos of olives. Beyond oil extraction, the cooperative is responsible for packaging and marketing the product. To carry out all these operations, it has a modern factory installed in the industrial zone of Valpaços, where a rigorous quality control and certification of Rosmaninho olive oil takes place.
